Hono hosting
on Shipped.
Keep Hono’s request and response model. Deploy your API as a web service with the JavaScript runtime that suits your project.
Choose a server runtime for your Hono app
Hono works across several JavaScript runtimes, but each hosting environment still needs the right entry point or adapter. Package your Node.js, Bun, or Deno server setup and deploy it on Shipped. Keep runtime-specific dependencies explicit instead of assuming an edge-provider example is a complete server deployment.
Put a small API in front of your data
Use Hono routes and middleware for webhook handlers, application endpoints, or a focused integration service. Connect a database when records need to persist and keep third-party credentials in secrets. Your frontend can call the public API without receiving the private configuration the service uses behind it.
Move between development and a live URL
Ask your coding agent to ship the local service through MCP, then test it at its Shipped address. Use staging for changes to authentication middleware and response behavior. Add a custom domain when clients need a stable API address under your product name.
A little more detail
Questions about Hono?
Does Hono have to run on an edge platform?
No. Hono can run on regular server runtimes including Node.js, Bun, and Deno. Use the entry point or adapter appropriate for the runtime you deploy.
Will provider-specific bindings move with my Hono code?
Not automatically. If your app uses a provider-specific database, storage binding, or platform API, keep that service connected or replace the integration when moving the application.
