Custom domains
Ship on a Shipped URL, then bring your own domain. Give your application an address that belongs to your product.
Connect the address you already own
Add the hostname you want to use and follow the DNS instructions for your domain provider. Shipped verifies ownership before connecting the hostname to your application. You keep control of the domain registration, while the application’s domain configuration identifies which service should answer requests for that address.
Give each service a clear address
Use the main domain for your website and a separate hostname for an API or another public application service when that fits your architecture. Keep staging addresses distinct from production. Clear hostnames help you manage application links, authentication callbacks, and browser access rules without sending test traffic to a production service by mistake.
Complete the HTTPS connection
Once the domain is correctly connected and verified, Shipped manages the HTTPS certificate workflow for that hostname. Keep the required DNS records in place so verification and renewal can continue. When moving an existing application, check the destination and its links before changing traffic, then verify the public domain after the DNS change takes effect.

Questions about Custom domains?
Do I need to transfer my domain registration?
No. Keep the domain with your existing registrar and update the necessary DNS records. You must control the hostname and complete ownership verification before Shipped binds it to your service.
Can I buy a domain through this feature?
Custom domains connects a domain you already own. Domain registration and purchase are separate from connecting that domain to an application.
